I've had my "first casualty" since upgrading to Win 7.
« on: January 21, 2012, 01:09:39 PM »
Apparently I won't be able to play Chronicles of Riddick on my new PC as the DRM, Tages, won't work on Win 7 64 bit. I have a sneaking suspicion that there are pirates playing the game on Windows 7 64 bit, if it is Tages that is the problem.

I've reported the issue to Direct 2 Drive, and I also own the game on Steam, but I'm not very optimistic.

With Direct 2 Drive doing their "move," I had downloaded "all" the games I own on it to my backup 1.5 TB hard drive. Since it had been a while since I bought the game and I never had played it *because my previous PC was unstable and I didn't want to lose an install,* I thought I'd install it and try it out in a week or two.

Oh well, there goes $10 ($5 for each copy...)

-PC: AMD Quad Core A8-3800 Accelerated Processor, 16GB DDR3 Ram, Radeon HD45xx 1 GB video card, 1 TB hard drive, 500 GB hard drive, Supermulti DVD Burner, Wireless Lan 802.11 b/g/n, Beats audio Studio Quality sound, Win 7 Home Premium

-Dreams of getting a new 360 XBOX in 201x.
-Current consoles:Wii, PS2, also has DS/GBA and a PSP 3000

I have a Win7 casualty too, sleep mode.  If I use it on this laptop, the CPU goes stupid sometime after recovery where one of the four cores locks into 100% usage (system lists 25% in task mgr) and the thing runs like a slug until reboot.  It's a rare but known issue, seen others with it, seen nothing I've tried so far to quit it so I just leave it on or shut it off.

I was going to suggest the Steam forums but I see you already started a topic there and got some assistance. Let us know how things turn out Paratech.

I finally got it to work, but I'm unsure "how" I got it to work, the D2D version. The Steam version seems to work out of the box.

different versions. D2D doesnt require their games work with all OSes but steam does.
