The Official Gamer Theory Steam Gifting Thread!
« on: October 06, 2010, 03:54:30 AM »
Alright since our Euro and Aussie brothers (and sisters in the future?) are being screwed over by publishers on Steam I am creating this thread to ensure that they get equal treatment as people in the US. All you have to do is post which game you want in here and some one willing to help you will PM you. you then make some arrangement with that person to buy that game for you and gift it to you. The effect is that you pay the lower price for your game. This can also apply to US customers who sometimes end up paying a higher price on some games. Remember to keep things honest and have fun!

Sweeeeet. I'll be looking into Portal 2 at the end of the year, and I've wanted L4D2 for a while. I'm trying to save cash presently, but the Aussie dollar's nearly at parity with the US dollar right now (AUD 1 = 0.97 USD), which is almost unheard of. Maybe I need to look at the prices and pick up some specials...

EDIT: thanks Brad! It turns out that Steam already quotes prices in USD for me, so I can take advantage of good exchange rates anyway. But it's still the Aussie store, so I asked Brad to gift me the uncensored L4D2 :)

Great idea! I just bought Steam 2 on disc though, since it was much cheaper than buying it on Steam. I'll be sure to let you know hen I ant to buy a Steam game. Suddenly Steam is interesting again :)

I'm not asking for it as much as asking about what this game is? Its the first game I've heard of not for sale in the US? Is it any good?

-PC: AMD Quad Core A8-3800 Accelerated Processor, 16GB DDR3 Ram, Radeon HD45xx 1 GB video card, 1 TB hard drive, 500 GB hard drive, Supermulti DVD Burner, Wireless Lan 802.11 b/g/n, Beats audio Studio Quality sound, Win 7 Home Premium

-Dreams of getting a new Wii U in 201x.
-Current consoles:Wii, PS2, XBOX 360, also has DS/GBA, Vita 2xxx, and a PSP 3000

Not sure, paratech; it seems my account is on the US store too, 'cause I can't get to it either. What's the title?

I can't pull it up on my work PC. I can try my home PC but I know my region is US so I'd likely have the same issues as you all.

Hey, so I finally got around to loading up Steam since I won an IndieGala bundle and a bunch of indie game music from JManga on Twitter.

I'm not really asking for a gift, but if y'all can help me keep an eye out for a good price for Recettear it'd be greatly appreciated.  Can't afford $20 for it right now.
