Giana Sisters DS (7.5 - 8.0) of 10.
Its a Super Mario "clone" that came out in the 80s on the Commodore 64 and was shut down by Nintendo, now I have the *much better* DS version.
It's not anywhere as good as New Super Mario Bros, its not as complex, there are no mid bosses and just a cheap knock off of Bowser at the end of each level in a castle.
Its fun though, although a bit easy (at least up to level 4) and there's 10 worlds with 8 levels each. So far there hasn't been the variety that New Super Mario Bros has, but its fun to play the game.
You get a bonus level by collecting all the "red" diamonds, you have to collect all of them on all 10 levels to unlock the bonus level *per world.*
You can replay levels whenever you choose, so you can play easier levels to restock your lives, although I haven't seen levels where you can restock them as much as some "new super Mario bros" levels.
YOU CAN SAVE EVERY LEVEL. You don't have to complete entire worlds, there are 3 save slots but once you start a new game its locked to that save slot.
The fireballs don't bounce like Super Mario Bros, so you can't bounce them into enemies.
You just go to the flag and past it to the next level, or on the castle (level 2 or higher) to face the Bowser wannabe.
If you like New Super Mario Bros and want a decent platformer, or liked the C64 version, this is worth $20.
BTW, there are achievements, but I don't know what they are or how to get them.
